Welcome to the Hot Butter Bakery online store. By placing an order or using our website (https://hotbutterbakery.co.za), you agree to be bound by the following Terms and Conditions. Please read them carefully before making a purchase.

These terms apply to all customers purchasing products through our website. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, please do not place an order.


1. About Us

Hot Butter Bakery is a South African bakery operating an online store at https://hotbutterbakery.co.za. All prices are listed in South African Rand (ZAR) and are inclusive of VAT where applicable.


2. Orders

2.1 Placing an Order

By placing an order on our website, you are making an offer to purchase the selected products. All orders are subject to availability and confirmation. We reserve the right to decline or cancel any order at our discretion, in which case you will receive a full refund.

2.2 Order Confirmation

You will receive an email confirmation once your order has been placed. This confirmation does not constitute acceptance of your order — acceptance occurs when your order is prepared and dispatched or made ready for collection.

2.3 Build-A-Box Orders

Our Build-A-Box feature allows you to customise a selection of treats. Please ensure your selections are correct before completing checkout, as custom orders cannot be changed once confirmed. We will make every effort to accommodate special requests noted at checkout, but cannot guarantee them.

2.4 Pre-Orders and Made-to-Order Products

Some products may be available on a pre-order or made-to-order basis. Lead times will be indicated on the product page. By placing such an order, you agree to the stated lead time and understand that cancellations may not be possible once production has begun.


3. Pricing & Payment

3.1 Pricing

All prices are displayed in South African Rand (ZAR). We reserve the right to change prices at any time without prior notice. The price at the time of your order confirmation will apply to your purchase.

3.2 Payment

Payment is required in full at the time of checkout. We accept the following payment methods:

  • Credit and debit card (Visa, Mastercard via Yoco)
  • Other payment methods as displayed at checkout

All transactions are processed securely. We do not store your payment details on our servers.

3.3 Failed Payments

If your payment is declined or fails, your order will not be processed. Please ensure your payment details are correct and that sufficient funds are available.


4. Delivery

4.1 Delivery Areas

We currently deliver to selected areas. Delivery availability and fees will be displayed at checkout based on your delivery address. We reserve the right to limit or change our delivery areas at any time.

4.2 Delivery Times

Estimated delivery times are provided as a guide only and are not guaranteed. Delays may occur due to high demand, public holidays, or circumstances beyond our control. We will communicate any significant delays as soon as possible.

4.3 Delivery of Perishable Goods

Our products are perishable. Please ensure someone is available to receive your order at the time of delivery. Hot Butter Bakery is not responsible for products that are left unattended after delivery or that deteriorate due to delayed collection.

4.4 Collection

Collection may be available at our designated location. Collection details, including address and time slots, will be confirmed at checkout or via email after your order is placed.

4.5 Incorrect Address

Please ensure your delivery address is correct at the time of ordering. If a delivery fails due to an incorrect address provided by you, redelivery fees may apply and we cannot guarantee the condition of perishable items.


5. Returns, Refunds & Cancellations

5.1 Perishable Products

Due to the perishable nature of our products, we do not accept returns. If you are unhappy with your order, please contact us within 24 hours of receiving it with a description and photo of the issue. We will assess each case individually and, where appropriate, offer a replacement, store credit, or refund.

5.2 Cancellations

Orders may be cancelled within 24 hours of placement, provided they have not yet been prepared. Custom or made-to-order items (including Build-A-Box orders) cannot be cancelled once confirmed. To request a cancellation, please contact us immediately at hello@hotbutterbakery.co.za.

5.3 Refunds

Approved refunds will be processed within 5 to 10 business days to the original payment method. We are not responsible for delays caused by your bank or payment provider.

5.4 Damaged or Incorrect Orders

If your order arrives damaged or contains incorrect items, please contact us within 24 hours with photographic evidence. We will arrange a replacement or refund as appropriate.


6. Product Information

We make every effort to display our products accurately, including images, descriptions, and ingredients. However, slight variations may occur due to the handmade nature of our products. Product images are for illustration purposes only.

All our products are made in a kitchen that handles common allergens including gluten, dairy, eggs, nuts, and soy. We cannot guarantee that any product is entirely free from allergens. If you have a severe allergy, please contact us before ordering.


7. Intellectual Property

All content on our website — including text, images, logos, and product descriptions — is the property of Hot Butter Bakery and is protected by applicable copyright and intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or use any content from our website without our prior written permission.


8. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by South African law, Hot Butter Bakery shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss or damage arising from your use of our website or from any order placed with us. Our total liability to you shall not exceed the value of the order in question.

We do not warrant that our website will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free from viruses or harmful components.


9. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes arising from these terms or from your use of our website shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the South African courts.

These terms are also subject to the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 and the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002, where applicable.


10. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to update or amend these Terms and Conditions at any time. Changes will be effective immediately upon posting to our website. Continued use of our website or placement of an order following any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.
